Placenta Magic and Medicine Workshop.
In Glastonbury on Monday 22nd June 2026
This workshop is an invitation to deepen your understanding of the remarkable human placenta—an organ of profound intelligence, nourishment, and connection.
Whether you are an expectant parent, doula, birthkeeper, or midwife, this space is for anyone who feels called to honour the placenta and reconnect with the traditional wisdom surrounding it. Together, we will explore ways to respectfully work with the placenta and reclaim knowledge that has long been held by wise women and traditional midwives across cultures.
Far more than a by-product of birth, the placenta is a life-sustaining organ. It nourishes and protects the growing baby, filters harmful substances, and produces the essential hormones that support pregnancy. It is a bridge between worlds—holding both biological function and deep symbolic meaning.
In this workshop, you will:
-
Explore the placenta through diverse cultural perspectives, discovering how it has been revered, consumed, and used medicinally around the world
-
Witness a live demonstration of an intuitive placenta reading and learn how to examine and understand placental anatomy
-
Watch the creation of placenta prints as a way to honour its unique form
-
Learn how to prepare the placenta for raw consumption, such as in a smoothie
-
Gain knowledge of making a placenta tincture for long-term use
We will also discuss ways to create meaningful keepsakes from the cord or membranes, and explore respectful practices for returning the placenta to the earth after its medicine has been harvested.
